Clean and dry compressed air enters one or more membrane modules, each of which is composed of millions of hollow fibers with the diameter similar to human hair. Various gases in the air (about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 1% argon) have different permeation rates when passing through the membrane wall, so that oxygen, argon and water vapor are filtered out from the membrane wall by the pressurized air flow, thus producing dry nitrogen. Nitrogen is discharged from the end of the membrane and sent to the gas consumption point.
